The Hunger Games

Katniss Everdeen, a girl of sixteen who lives with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister’s place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before and survival for her is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
The Games have finally started and Katniss teams up with Rue, the girl form district 11. Unfortunately Rue is killed in a fight to destroy the food supply of the Career Tributes. After Rue’s death, the announcer, wanting to bring back the romance between Peeta and Katniss, changes the rules, now two people from a single district can win. Before she can stop herself, Katniss calls out Peeta’s name. Katniss goes in search of Peeta and finds him wounded and camouflaged in the muddy bank of a stream. Eventually Katniss and Peeta are successful in killing the rest of the tributes.
So that means the two of them have won; but the story is not yet finished. Who will live? Katniss or Peeta.
Read the book to see the fate of these star-crossed lovers in a fight to live and love.
My take on the book: a full on mystery; an adventure to live with a hint of romance between the lead protagonists. An intriguing book, a wonderful story and some spicy romance make this book a complete package. Don’t believe me? Try for yourself.
As always, the cast:
Katniss Everdeen- the original Katniss was played by Jennifer Lawrence but I think Emma Watson would suit the role as well
Peeta- the original role was played by Alexander Ludwig but since there has to be a change on my take, I would recommend Aaron Johnson.
God, he gives me butterflies deep inside 😉
Happy reading 😀
